I teach Computer Science at Honolulu Community College. My main interest is the study of algorithms. While computer languages come and go, algorithms and data structures are forever. I try to convince my students that if they learn how to write and understand algorithms, they will be able to program in whatever language they are asked to; while if they only learn the syntax of a particular language, they will be limited to that language.

ICS Students: Please follow this link to learn how to set up the Path and the CLASSPATH environment variables on your Windows computer.

Or, here is an applet that demonstrates the Reve's Puzzle -- a version of the Towers of Hanoi with four towers rather than three.

In 2004 my wife and I went to Europe to watch the Transit of Venus. And in 2003 we walked up the Haiku Steps and took some pictures.
