Kepler's second law. A planet sweeps out equal areas in equal times. Althougnh a planet will move at a slower rate from P5 to P6 than it does from P1 to P2, it will take the same amount of time to cover these distances, and the areas swept out by connecting these points with the Sun (the shaded areas) are the same.
