In the many years that I have taught this course, here is a simple summary of what I have seen:
Student 1 (Akamai): Successful in this class
Class Attendance – solid
Reads assignment before class session – Yes
Does exercises to discuss in class – Yes
Asks questions, sees instructor, tutors if needed – Yes
Student 2: Most often not successful in this class
Class Attendance – sporadic
class session – Seldom or never; or tries to skim reading just
Note: You cannot read a logic or math book
jumping around and skimming. You need to read slowly, step
step, and think about what you are reading.
Does assigned exercises to discuss in class – No
Asks questions, sees instructor, tutors if needed – No or too late in the semester
