1. This week, we are going back to Decolonization - the subject we took
a break from last week. Please view the slide show (PowerPoint with sound)
linked below, and read the lecture on postwar East Asia, as two ways to begin
looking at the process by which the colonies of European powers began claiming
their independence and ruling themselves, and by which the European colonial
powers, sometimes suddenly, and sometimes with some resistance, divested
themselves of their colonial obligations after WWII.
