Administration of Justice (AJ)

The Administration of Justice program at HCC prepares students for entry into the Administration of Justice field, including law enforcement, court corrections and private security. Students completing the program will earn an associate of applies science degree. A student at HCC who completed 12 units of AJ work, may receive up to 12 additional units for completing basic recruit training for police as required by government law enforcement agencies.

The program provides job preparation and in-service enhancement for the following occupations; police officer, deputy sheriff, corrections officer, security officer, and a variety of occupations in several federal law enforcement agencies.

AJ career fields range from strenuous and hazardous positions which are physically demanding to those of a more investigative or academic nature. Ability to make rational decisions; work independently and perform well under physical and mental; communicate effectively, orally and in writing; work well with others; observe and remember details; good physical health, eyesight, and hand-eye coordination; honest; dependable; qualify to possess and carry firearms and ammunition. A much faster than average employment growth for law enforcement occupations is forecasted on the national level for the next few years.
